The global trend of urbanization and population growth, which puts ever increasing pressure on the world’s cities, creates a necessity to develop smart and sustainable solutions within the cities to cope with the effects of an increasing population.   There is an emerging need for the cities to get smarter so that it would tackle the issues related with the large scale urbanization as well as improving quality in service rendering. In creating and developing smart cities, there is push from the government itself. Governments are now making policies and frameworks to transform existing cities into smart cities.

Governments investments plans for technology development and deployment in most of the sectors is gaining hype.
